The short version

We worked these out from our own location using road routes, so treat them as good estimates rather than survey figures. The drive times are the ranges you can expect between a quiet hour and a busy one. On a weekday morning or evening, add more. Check a live map before you leave.

The airport

This is the reason most people choose us. The airport is about 5 km away, which is around 10 minutes by car. For comparison, from the city centre the airport is roughly 25 to 30 km away, and a trip that takes 10 minutes from here can take an hour or more from the other side of town. HITEC City and Gachibowli

These are the IT and business districts, about 26 to 28 km from us. Business travellers often wonder whether it is worth staying out here rather than in the middle of the action. If you have meetings at 9 a.m. in HITEC City and a flight that evening, it can work well: you travel in at the start of the day, and the airport is close when you leave. If you have meetings every day for a week, you will spend a lot of time on the road, and a hotel closer to your office may suit you better. We say so because it is true.

Charminar and Golconda

Charminar is about 17 km away and Golconda Fort about 22 km, so the old city and the fort are both an easy half-day outing. Golconda is usually open from around 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., so check the current timings before you set out. A good plan is the fort in the morning, lunch somewhere in the old city, then Charminar and the nearby markets in the afternoon. The old city is crowded, so go by car or cab and not by your own vehicle if you can.

Chilkur Balaji and Ramoji Film City

Chilkur Balaji Temple, often called the Visa Temple, is about 24 km away. There is no entry fee, and the temple is known for not having a donation box. Devotees traditionally walk around the sanctum 11 times to make a wish and 108 times when it is granted, and wearing traditional or handloom clothes is encouraged, especially on Saturdays. Opening times are reported differently by different sources, with a break in the afternoon according to some, so confirm with the temple before you go.

Ramoji Film City is about 45 km from us, on the far side of the city, and it needs a full day. It is generally open from around 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Ticket prices change, so check them on the official site. If you only have a short stay in Hyderabad, this is the one to skip unless it is the reason you came.

Secunderabad

Secunderabad is about 29 km away and is mainly useful if you are catching a train from the station. If so, plan generously. The roads in and out are busy for much of the day. For help working out the time, call reception and we will tell you what we would do.
